How to Make Money Fast in Big Ambitions
There is no exploit-free money button in Big Ambitions, but there are four levers that move income far more than anything else you can do. In rough order of how much they matter:
Lever 1: Traffic Index Beats Marketing Spend
Every building has a traffic index that cannot be changed. Your store’s starting promotion score equals that traffic index, and marketing closes the gap toward 100% promotion — but marketing tops out at a +50% promotion change and it bills daily, forever.
Here is what that daily bill looks like:
| Agency | Package | Cost per day |
|---|---|---|
| McCain’s eMarketing | Small internet campaign | $100 |
| McCain’s eMarketing | Medium internet campaign | $250 |
| McCain’s eMarketing | Large internet campaign | $500 |
| CityAds | Small billboard | $500 |
| CityAds | Medium billboard | $2,500 |
| CityAds | Large billboard | $6,000 |
A building with a high traffic index is a permanent discount on that bill for as long as you hold the lease. Shopping leases carefully is the highest-return activity in the early game, and it costs nothing but walking time. Details in marketing and map and neighborhoods.
Lever 2: Price Against MarketInsider, Not Against Vibes
Customer satisfaction — which caps how many customers a business can pull — is driven by customer service quality, pricing, and interior. Pricing is the one you can fix in thirty seconds.
The MarketInsider app gives you per-neighborhood demand, the lowest market price on the street, the import price index and how many businesses already provide each product. BizMan’s Inventory & Pricing view then tells you which of your items are not selling because they are overpriced. Between the two you can price deliberately instead of guessing.
1.0 added an HQ Pricing Manager employee for exactly this problem: they update prices across an entire neighborhood at once, and higher-skilled ones suggest the best price each day. If you are running more than a handful of stores, this is the single biggest quality-of-life hire in the game. Full detail in the pricing guide.
Lever 3: Sell Into Shortage Windows
This is the lever most players never notice. Importers track a weekly delivery limit per item per location, resetting Mondays at 08:00, and supply problems are modelled explicitly:
| Status | Duration | Trigger | Effect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shortage | Two weeks | Excessive ordering, or a recent large purchase from that source | Prices rise, buying still possible |
| Backorder | One week | A shortage triggering while the item is already in shortage | Item cannot be bought at all |
Both states temporarily increase customer demand for the affected item. That is the opportunity: if you hold stock while a shortage is running, you are selling into elevated demand while competitors cannot restock. Since shortages are tracked per importer location, the counter-play is to keep a second supplier for anything critical. See suppliers and importers.
Lever 4: Stop Buying What You Can Make
Retail margin is capped by what you pay a wholesaler. A factory replaces that with a production margin. The chain looks like this: rent a warehouse building, place input and output stations plus the machines for your product, hire a factory worker, and set up an importer contract for raw materials through a purchasing agent in your headquarters.
Which importer you need depends on the material — Lunar Tide handles food, Maritime Freight Line covers electronics and jewelry, Aquatic Bay covers liquor. This is why liquor stores and electronics stores are attractive mid-game: both sell products you can eventually manufacture yourself. Walkthrough in the factory guide and factory recipes.
Fast Cash When You Are Actually Broke
If you need money this week rather than this quarter:
- Take a wage job. Unglamorous, but it covers rent while a business ramps.
- Deliver for Speedy Bites. 1.0 added food delivery both ways — you can order in, or make deliveries yourself for cash.
- Taxi rides. There is a Steam achievement chain for completing 10 and then 50 taxi rides, which tells you it is a supported activity rather than a bug.
- The casino boat, carefully. There is an achievement for winning $50,000 total at the casino, and gambling on Friday evenings is also listed as a happiness boost. It is variance, not income. See casino guide.
What to Ignore
Trainers, cheat engine tables and money-cheat videos dominate the search results for this game. They are not covered here, and they break the part of the game that is actually interesting: the money is the score, and a score you edited does not tell you whether your supply chain works.
