All 21 Big Ambitions Business Types Explained

Big Ambitions groups businesses by what they demand from you, not by what they sell. Getting that structure straight early saves you from buying a building that cannot host the business you had in mind.

The Four Structural Categories

Retail businesses serve walk-in customers. They typically need a cleaning employee and a customer service employee, and security guards are recommended once you stock high-value products.

Office businesses replace stock management with workstations and employee skill. Cleaning staff can still be assigned; customer service cannot.

Warehouses are businesses in the technical sense but never show under the BizMan banner. A warehouse needs a logistics manager and a delivery driver to work as a distribution hub for your stores.

Factories are placed in warehouse buildings and manufacture goods from raw ingredients. A factory worker runs production while a logistics manager and delivery driver push the output out.

The 4 Lines Added in EA 0.10

The 0.10 update, titled “No Business Like Show Business,” shipped on 11 March 2026 and added an entertainment and services cohort:

  • Cinema
  • Theater
  • Event Planning Agency
  • Travel Agency

This is worth knowing for a practical reason: the community wiki’s business list predates this update, so any list you find that stops at 17 businesses is describing Early Access 0.9. Cross-referencing the wiki’s 14 retail plus 3 office lines against the 21 businesses in the shipped game leaves exactly this group of four — which is also why community consensus on how profitable they are is much thinner than for the older lines.

Which Building Types Host Which Business

Business category determines which building codes you can even consider:

  • Retail: A1, A2 (75 m², capacity 15) · C1, C2 (225 m², capacity 30) · D2 (285 m², capacity 40) · M1 (1,000 m², capacity 75)
  • Office: A3 (75 m², capacity 4) · C1, C2 (225 m², capacity 8) · D2, J1 (285 m², capacity 10) · K1 (660 m², capacity 50)
  • Warehouse / Factory: H1–H3 (690 m², 1 vehicle) · I1–I3 (1,292 m², 2 vehicles) · P1–P3 (2,184 m², 2 vehicles) · Q1–Q3 (2,610 m², 2 vehicles)

Customer capacity is a hard ceiling on customers per hour, and each furniture item contributes its own capacity — so an under-furnished M1 performs like a smaller unit no matter how good the block is.
